Composing music for subjects such as ROBOTECH does not require the genius of Mozart. But like Mozart and others, we hope that what we write is pertinent to the given subject, be it terrestrial or astral. I hope I did my part for Minmei and company!

A year ago, Tom Bateman interviewed me for an article on the music of ROBOTECH for FilmScore Monthly. During our discussion, it came up that 1995 would be the 10th anniversary of the show and that there was still a great deal of continued interest in it. This double CD soundtrack album represents virtually all of the music created for the 85 half-hour episodes of the ROBOTECH TV series. In the ten years since the show first aired, many elements of the music - including the actual score - had been lost or misplaced. Just finding the materials took months of sleuthing. Much credit must be given to Tom and Dennis Bateman for locating and saving the remaining original tapes. Several of the original tapes were disintegrating and needed to be restored and would have been lost forever if not for this soundtrack project. Thanks are also long overdue to all those who helped to create the original soundtracks including: Ulpio Minucci, who first brought me in to work on ROBOTECH. Frank and Gigi Agrama of Harmony Gold; Carl Macek, who conceived ROBOTECH from the various Japanese elements and was the driving force behind the project. Thomas A. White (Music Supervising Producer), who oversaw all aspects of the music production; Peter Kelsey (Recording Engineer, Mixer); Brad Dechter and Frank Bennett (Arrangers, Copyists); John Mortarotti (Music Editor), whose considerable skills contributed to the tasteful and seamless usage of the score materials within the show; and not least to the many un-named musicians whose skills and efforts will continue to be heard, enjoyed and admired into the next millennium thanks to this CD compilation. And of course, my thanks to you -the many fans, for keeping the spirit of ROBOTECH alive and well after these many years.
